Swagman Motorhomes and Zhongtong seal historic deal

News Swagman signs strategic agreement with major Chinese company Exciting joint venture deal with leading Chinese manufacturer, Zhongtong

Swagman Motorhomes, Australia's largest manufacturer of A-Class motorhomes, has signed a joint venture agreement with Zhongtong Bus Holding. The joint venture has taken over 12 months to finalise and plays an important part in Swagman's plans to expand internationally.

The official signing of the agreement between Swagman and Zhongtong was observed by Anna Bligh, the Premier of Queensland, as part of her China Trade mission.

Swagman see the partnership with Zhongtong as a great opportunity to grow the brand internationally by establishing a low-cost base for both the emerging Chinese market and the lucrative North American market.

We see exporting to the emerging market in China as a perfect opportunity for Swagman Motorhomes, with more and more Chinese looking to the leisure markets.
Neil Ingram
CEO, Swagman Motorhomes

One of China's largest and most technically advanced bus manufacturers, Zhongtong commenced building buses in 1971 and produces in excess of 10 000 buses per year, exporting to over 20 countries.

Swagman exported the unique Australian-designed Carbon Fibre / Kevlar ARMOUR-SHELL™ body and Australian-made components to China, where a team of experienced tradesman from Swagman completed construction of the first RV2801 at Zhongtong's factory.

As with all of Swagman's Next Generation range of motorhomes, the RV2801 is built on the specially designed Swagman Euro Space Frame, a purpose-built Motorhome chassis designed and constructed in-house at Swagman's 14 650 square metre production facilities on Queensland's Gold Coast.

The RV2801 is a luxurious, high-end motorhome and features a rear-engine diesel engine and Allison automatic transmission.
