V8 Supercars enforcer Russell Ingall swapped his Commodore for class today – taking the wheel of Swagman Motorhomes’ latest fleet addition at its Australian launch.
Swagman’s A-Class RV2801 rolled off the production line at Biggera Waters and into the capable hands of Ingall, who is no stranger to motorhome driving.
"I had the pleasure of touring in a Swagman in 2007 and apart from being a safe and smooth drive – I call it the Bentley of motorhomes – it is just luxury on wheels," he said.
The stylish RV2801 uses world-first technology in that it has a one-piece carbon fibre/kevlar body. The patented "Armourshell" body is lighter and eight times stronger than traditional materials used in the industry. By developing the innovative composite body, a lot of weight has been taken out of the vehicle, making Swagman extremely fuel efficient.
Unlike most 28 ft motorhomes, the RV2801 has a rear mounted International Maxxforce5 V6 diesel engine and 5-speed Allison transmission. The engine is Euro 5 / 2010 compliant for Australian vehicle emission standards.
The purpose built light weight Motorhome chassis is a space frame design with six air bag suspension & ABS combine to ensure a soft & smooth ride, just like driving a car.
"With Swagman Motorhomes the combined features & technology of the body & chassis, provide the vehicle with an unbelievable fuel economy of around 14-16 litres per 100 km's" said Managing Director, Neil Ingram. The whole focus has been to develop a more fuel efficient and environmental friendly motorhome. The new model has been in development for the last 12 months and is a complete change from the previous swagman 28 ft series.
Step inside and the aesthetics are more in line with luxury car or motor yacht styling.
The panoramic windscreen, with an ergonomically designed wrap-around dash, has electric leather seating and integrated, full colour touch screen GPS and reversing camera.
The motorhome is fully air-conditioned and has ample storage room with a full sized pantry and oversized wardrobe. Solid timber cabinetry and plush carpeting have been used throughout.
Your home away from home features a lounge / kitchen area, a Queen sized bed and a bathroom with a full sized shower, toilet and large mirror and vanity.
All Swagman Motorhomes come with a five year structural warranty, a three year bumper to bumper warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance, throughout Australia.
Mr Ingram said already pre orders have been strong as the 28 ft series is one of our most popular models.
"Everything on the production floor has already sold."
Starting price for the RV2801 is $395,000 including GST.
